Irish actor Cillian Murphy has been in many great films, often in smaller but meaningful roles. Since has has started to play crime boss Tommy Shelby on the hit series Peaky Blinders, his fame has skyrocketed and so have the offers of interesting roles. In honour of his birthday, here's a look at some of his best roles so far.

Here are some images to show his versatility. Very often, he plays highly intelligent but reserved or traumatised characters, showing the full extent of his skills.
In the series Peaky Blinders, his role is certainly intelligent as well, but also rather brutal. Traumatised from serving in WWI in France, Tommy Shelby has returned to Northern England and builds a criminal empire with his family. The series is so well done and includes historical connections, that it has gained a large fandom and can get the greatest actors to guest star.
