A small village in the Swiss mountains.
This little village in the Swiss mountains is one of my favorite places in the world. Granted, I’m slightly biased because my grandfather was from this valley, so I’ve been visiting this area since I
was a child. But it doesn’t lose any of its magic, as some recent images show.
The village lies in a sunny position on the side of a valley called Val Bregaglia, between St. Moritz in Switzerland and the Italian border. From the village, you can walk to Italy in less than an hour on a beautiful panorama hike. The village itself has many lovely old buildings, and a few small hotels and good restaurants. There is tourism, but never in a way that it feels overrun. In some corners, it still feels like you’re in a different time. And the mountains you see from everywhere in and around the village are stunning in every direction. Simply magical.
