A Streetcar Named Desire

A play by Tennessee Williams, shown in a filmed version of a stage production.

This week, one of the most anticipated NTL streamings will be available online. From 7pm British time on today (Thursday 21st May), the performance of A Streetcar Named Desire based on the play byTennessee Williams can be screened all over the world. An unmissable experience, as this production from 2014 was a huge success at the time, and has an amazing cast.
In the leading role of the iconic Blanche Dubois, Gillian Anderson gives a great performance, and she is supported by Vanessa Kirby and Ben Foster. The famous play tells the story of an aging Southern belle, who has become impoverished and needs to stay with her younger sister Stella. Stella does not live alone, however, and her husband Stanley is the opposite of Blanche in every aspect, and does not fall for her games. One of the most important plays in American literary history, this piece has not lost its charm and allure.
The play can be watched on YouTube for a week, to be found here.

In addition, if you want to get more into the world of this play, you can of course read it or watch the classic adaptation with Vivien Leigh and Marlon Brando, both giving amazing performances.

A more modern version of it was created by Woody Allen in his film Blue Jasmine, which transports the story into modern day America. Cate Blanchett gives a great performance in this iconic role as well.
