Walking with Elephants

A documentary series from Channel 4 with adventurer Levison Wood.

Adventurer and writer Levison Wood is no stranger to Africa - indeed, has has already walked along the entire River Nile. Currently, you can follow one of his adventures on Channel 4 (every Sunday evening, 10 pm CET). This time, he is not following a river or an ancient trade route as he has done in the past, but an animal - elephants. Together with a local guide, he follows the migration of elephants in Botswana, coming as close as possible to the majestic animals without disturbing them.

Last week, the first episode aired, and this week the adventure continues. As in his travel fiction which I love to read, Levison Wood shows that he is very open and interested in other cultures with a respectful attitude, and loves to have an adventure without anyone getting hurt (ideally - that wasn't the case on all of his adventures). As the wilderness of Botswana is not your average place to be walking around freely, you can imagine that there are a few tricky situations to master, as already the first episode has shown.

If you love exploring the world, nature, and animals - or ideally, as in my case, all of them - this is an inspiring and entertaining documentary series to watch. New episode tonight.

If you want to read more, you can always resort to the wonderful travel books by Levison Wood, as already recommended in a post about him and also in a list of non-fiction books.
