An award winning Polish director and screenwriter.
This Polish director has delivered two of the most beautiful films of the past decade. After several others, less critically acclaimed films, he garnered countless accolades for "Ida" (2013), including an Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film. He then followed up with "Cold War" (2018) (original title: "Zimna Wojna"), which was equally well received, and only gathered fewer awards because it was released in the same year as Cuaron's "Roma".
While the storylines of both films are very different, they share the same craftsmanship. Besides a wonderful script (both written by Pawlikowski himself), the films have a magnificent cinematography in common. Choosing to shoot his films in black and white, this director is very aware of the images he creates. Both films are pieces of art that are worth watching for content and visuals.
