Levison Wood is not your average author, but his books are very successful. A British army officer, he has travelled the world in several unusual trips. He is known for daring to undertake seemingly impossible walks of long distances, and getting to know the countries and their culture while he traverses them.

I originally started reading a book by Levison Woods when travelling in the Himalayas, namely "Walking the Himalayas". I was amazed not only by his adventures, but also by his beautiful writing. Since then, I have also read several other books, and thoroughly enjoyed them. So while nobody can travel, it is a great time to read travel literature - and this is some of the best you can find.
The books always include some pictures taken by Levison himself as well, which are beautiful and serve as great illustrations (or sometimes, proof it really happened!). Besides that, there's always a map on which you can follow his trip.
